The Annual Arlington Fishing Derby is held in on the Saturday of Oregon’s "Free Fishing Weekend" - the one weekend a year when no fishing license is required!  "Free Fishing Weekend" is generally the first full weekend in June. Registration opens at 8 am in the parking lot of Earl Snell Park.  Fishing is from 8 am to 12 pm with fisherman of all ages after the biggest fish. Weigh-in is in the park from 10 am until noon.  Prizes are awarded to the winner in each of the following categories: 4 years and under, 5 to 8 years, 9 to 12 years, 13 to 17 years, and Adult. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. There is a $3 entry fee per fisherman to enter the derby.  Goody bags are given out to the first 50 participants. All Oregon fishing regulations apply at this event. Bring the family and don’t forget your fishing pole and tackle. The Arlington Community Chamber of Commerce supplies life vests for use during the Fishing Derby. Fishing Derby winners and prizes will be presented during the Walapalooza.

Immediately following the Fishing Derby the Arlington Community Chamber hosts its Spring Walapalooza at the Earl Snell Park Gazebo. From 11:30 am to 1:30 pm all can enjoy scrumptious food brought to you by a local eatery. The Spring Walapalooza is a bi-annual event in the City of Arlington with the intention of keeping long-time residents and new folks in town informed on the activities and opportunities of our City. Information, in the form of brochures, handouts and conversation, is readily available to all. The Spring Walapalooza is open to everyone, not just the attendees of the Fishing Derby.  Free lunch for the first 200 people.
