The annual Earl Snell Park Lighting Ceremony is held in the first half of December in conjunction with the Winter Walapalooza. The Earl Snell Park Lighting Ceremony kicks off with food from a local caterer at 6:00 p.m. the Winter Walapalooza, a bi-annual event in the City of Arlington keeps long-time residents and new folks in town informed on the activities and opportunities of our City. Information, in the form of brochures, handouts and conversation, is readily available to all. The Winter Walapalooza features prizes and local entertainment, at 6:45 p.m. a candlelight walk and caroling leads the way to the Earl Snell Park for the official tree lighting ceremony, at 7:00 p.m. countdown and lights on, bring the whole family.

The Community Lighting Contest features five categories: Spirit of Christmas (nativity), Best Animated, Best Use of Lighting, Most Unique and Business/Public Building Christmas Spirit. The Community Lighting Contest includes businesses at the Shutler Station Business Park and households within two miles of the Arlington City Center. A $25 award will be given in each category. It’s a wonderful way to prepare Arlington for the holiday’s and help all folks enjoy the spirit of the holiday season.
